Failure to address severe wound

August 26, 2024 -Talamore Senior Living, St. Cloud - Death after months of wound care neglect by the Assisted Living with Dementia Care facility

The MN Department of Health substantiated neglect in this painful death of a woman who resided at this residence. An increasingly severe 3" diameter by 3" deep open wound developed over 5 months. Nurses failed to assess the wound and did not implement 7 wound care Medical orders. The woman died from sepsis, a life threatening systemic infection, despite 9 days of aggressive hospital treatment. Facility staff were not trained in wound care until after the death.
